A BARRY five-year-old has won a nationwide competition to create the PDSA’s new marathon-running vest design!

Isobel Govier submitted her design to Channel 5 children’s breakfast programme Milkshake and, against fierce competition, won first prize!

The competition asked for drawings of the cartoon characters Roobarb and Custard doing some form of exercise, and Isobel’s featured the pair doing star jumps.

As well as seeing her design printed on the PDSA vests, the Gladstone Primary pupil also won an Ipad2 and a range of Roobarb and Custard books.

Isobel, of Fonmon Road in Rhoose, said: "I was really excited when I found out I had won. Roobarb is my favourite character as I really like dogs!"

Mum Tracey said: "Milkshake is on in the mornings and we watch it when we are getting ready for school.

"She was ill off school one day, so I suggested she enter the competition. When we sent it off we were never expecting to win."

They found out that she had won when they were watching TV just before Christmas, but it was only recently that they were sent the marathon vest with Isobel’s design on it.

"It will be worn by everyone who runs for PDSA this year," added Tracey.

"We will be watching the London Marathon on Sunday, hoping to see people wearing the vest!

"We are all so proud of Isobel!"
