I HAVE read with interest the letters recently in the Barry and District News concerning Cemetery Approach.
Was it not prudent that Cllr Keith Lewis brought to the public domain the issue of Cemetery Approach, with a letter correcting Councillor Claire Curtis in respect of the errors she made regarding the land at Cemetery Approach and Labour’s manifesto promise?
All political parties now seem to be vying for the accolade of saving this land from development, but let’s not forget that it was Cllr Lewis who had the courage to challenge Cllr Curtis and set off the debate we have seen in recent weeks.
Not surprising really, since I seem to remember it was Cllr Lewis’s instigation and subsequent campaigning that also raised the issue of White Farm despite what other councillors may claim.
Sadly not everyone else’s motive in raising these issues is for the interests of the constituents they are supposed to represent, but more a case of publicity seeking and self promotion.
