Vale MP encourages companies to invest in Barry

VALE of Glamorgan MP, John Smith, is encouraging companies seeking to capture the spending power of more than 20,000 people who will work and train at the £12 billion Defence Technical College each year to invest in Barry.

John Smith said: “As the main gateway to the Vale of Glamorgan, I want the town of Barry and its people to benefit the most from the Defence Technical College.

“Having the largest single government investment in the history of Wales taking place on its doorstep is a unique opportunity for Barry to attract new business investment in the town, which will help its physical and financial regeneration.

“Many companies are looking to this part of Wales because they know that each year over 20,000 students will be trained in some of the most highly-prized technical skills here in the Vale.

“I would encourage companies and developers seeking to take advantage of the Defence Technical College to look at Barry first.

"If we all pull together, there is absolutely no reason why Barry can’t once again become a boom town like it once was in the early 20th Century during the heydays of its Docks.”
