A BARRY couple, who were left devastated after their dream wedding in Mexico was cancelled because of the Swine Flu pandemic, have tied the knot in Jamaica.
Nurse Emma Brown, aged 29, said she was in tears when the wedding of her dreams was cancelled.
It was just two days before she and fiance Paul Steer, 37, were due to fly out to wed in front of ten of their family and friends.
Emma, from Maes-y-Coed at the Knap, recalled: "I was devastated and couldn’t stop crying - my dream was shattered.
"I couldn't believe our bad luck.
"After all the planning, we were all packed ready to go – and all for nothing."
The travel agents told the pair that it would be impossible to arrange another wedding at short notice – but then the Sandals resort in Jamaica offered to accommodate the wedding party.
The couple eventually wed on May 18 – only two weeks after they were originally set to marry.
Emma said the wedding made up for the misery of the cancellation.
She said: "It was an amazing day.
"It all turned out fantastically well in the end - I have to be the most unlucky and lucky bride ever!"
