Barry surgery chosen to pilot Glaucoma treatment centre

A BARRY surgery will be the first centre in Wales to pilot a new glaucoma treatment centre.

Highlight Park surgery has been chosen as the site for a new opthalmic diagnostic centre which will evaluate new ways of diagnosing and treating patients with glaucoma.

The Barry based scheme is set to begin at the surgery on September 1, and will be piloted at a practice in Llandeilo a few weeks later.

The two centres will run for six months at a cost of £181,800 which will be funded by the Assembly Government, and should the pilot work plans will be developed to roll it out across Wales.
