A TEAM from the Welsh Assembly Government took to garden digging for a day and transformed the school grounds at Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant last week.
A team from the department of Public Health and Health Professionals spent one of their five days set aside for volunteering, on painting, digging, clearing and potting until the garden was ready for vegetable growing.
Natalie Avery from the team had brought her wellies.
She said: "We have a had a really good day - aside from the rain!"
The school's eco committee at Ysgol Gwaun Y Nant were looking forward to the end result and have even put together a litter squad to collect rubbish left on the school grounds.
Teacher Rhydian Lloyd said: "They already have their Bronze Eco School Award and they are now working on an action plan to work towards the silver award."
