A cyclist has life-threatening injuries after a crash in Buttrills Road, Barry.

The crash happened at around 6.50pm on Sunday, September 9.

The cyclist was said to have been taken to the University Hospital of Wales with "serious injuries which are described as life-threatening" according to South Wales Police. 

The road was closed for around four hours after the crash. 

A spokesman for South Wales Police said: "South Wales Police would like to speak with any witnesses to the incident, anyone who may have dash cam footage of the incident or anyone who witnessed the manner of riding of the cyclist prior to the incident."

Police say officers would also like to speak to and trace the driver and occupants of a white Citroen C3 car with a red coloured roof and black paneling on the doors, which was travelling directly behind the bicycle at the time of the incident.
