A VALE-BASED charity opened its doors last week to showcase its work and invite new members into the fold.
Vale People First is based on Broad Street in Barry – and prides itself as an organisation “for and led by” people with learning disabilities in the Vale.
The open day – held on Friday, June 22 – provided guests with the opportunity to learn more about the charity’s work – including the support it provides people to live independently.
South Wales Central AM Andrew RT Davies – who attended the open day – praised the charity’s work – and said he looked forward to seeing them go on to build on their success.
Mr Davies said, “People with learning difficulties and disabilities face many challenges – and it is vital they are given the support they need.
“Vale People First work exceptionally hard to give people the confidence to live independently – as well as take on roles of leadership and responsibility.
“It was a pleasure to visit last week and learn more about the great work the charity does. I’d like to thank everyone for being so generous with their time – and I look forward to seeing the charity push on and help even more people achieve a successful future.”
