THIS week the nostalgia section features a photograph of the Welsh delegation to the Quimper Folklore Festival held in Brittany in 1950.
A festival which started in 1923 is still going strong today and promotes the Celtic Culture.
The performers in the photo include Madam Muriel Jones and her Royal Welsh Singers of Barry, Parti Canu Penillion of Dolgellau and a group of students from Aberystwyth smartly dressed in blazers.
The two Welsh harpists who represented Wales were Telynores Dwyryd and Eirion Canwy.
The Welsh organiser for the festival was Mr Donald Moore BA who lived in Oxford Street, Barry.
Donald together with his brother Brian led the delegation to Quimper.
On their return from the festival in France. Madam Muriel Jones and her Royal Welsh Singers played a prominent part in Barry Carnival week.
The Barry & District News would like to thank Cllr Shirley Hodges for the photograph and information.
