FOUR masked males have broken into the home of a 63-year-old man in Barry, demanding cash and jewellery from the occupant before making their escape.

The four males, who have not yet been identified, gained access to the Severn Avenue property at around 6.45pm on Monday, February 19.

The senior citizen was alone when the culprits arrived at his home, with all four wearing what was described as black suits and black hats. They also had their faces covered.

The perpetrators left the premises with an undisclosed sum of cash, as well as a number of jade jewellery items and a wrist watch.

Detective constable Kirsty James, of Barry CID, who is investigating the crime, said: “Thankfully no-one was hurt during this incident. This was very distressing for the victim and we are appealing to anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the Severn Avenue area on Monday evening.

“The stolen jewellery is of great sentimental importance to the owner and we want to hear from anyone who may have been offered any or who may know of its whereabouts.”
