A CAR driver suffered serious injuries and was taken to hospital following a three-vehicle collision in Colcot, Road, in Barry, on Tuesday, January 16.

His injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

South Wales Police were called to the collision at 8.40pm after a silver Audi A5 collided with two parked vehicles.

A red Toyota 4x4 was left crushed in a front garden.

Substantial damage was caused to all three vehicles as well as the nearby property.

Police officers attended alongside colleagues from the fire and ambulance services.

South Wales Fire and Rescue service crew cut the Audi driver free from the driver’s vehicle.

Barry and Ely firefighters used hydraulic cutting gear, small tools and portable lighting during the operation.

The hazardous area response team was also in attendance.

A paramedic, in a rapid response vehicle, and an emergency ambulance were present at the scene.

The Welsh Ambulance service took the driver to the University Hospital of Wales, in Cardiff.
