THE Santa Fun Run returned to Barry Island last weekend, with close to 500 people descending on Barry Island to take on the festive 2km route.

The event, supported by Barry Town Council, saw runners dressed up as Father Christmas take on the challenge to raise money for town mayor Cllr Nic Hodges's chosen charities: Ty Hafan and the British Heart Foundation.

Widely praised by members of the community, the fun run – now into its second year – brought individuals and community organisations together for the family orientated event on Sunday, December 3.

Barry Town Council would like to thank and congratulate the following organisations and volunteers for their part in hosting the event: the Barry Town Mayor’s Charity Brass Band, Marco’s Café, Boofy’s Chip Shop, Bro Radio, JPL Sounds, Hyper Value, Kevin Moore Photography, the British Heart Foundation, Tŷ Hafan, Brawd Fitness, Barry Youth Action, Barry First Responders, Barry Round Table and Barry Scouts.

The council also wanted to wish all those who participated a #VeryBarryChristmas, in honour of the town's new promotional campaign, and said they looked forward to hosting another event next year.
