A CRAFT networking event is set to be held in the Vale this month.

The network funded through the Vale of Glamorgan Council and the Wales Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, is reaching out to crafters across the council area.

The Vale council's arts development officer and Creative Rural Communities have been working with a number of craft practitioners, who have highlighted the need for a network.

The free networking event, allowing people to collaborate and explore opportunities will take place at the Dyffryn Gardens Tea Rooms, in St Nicholas, on Thursday, November 30 from 6pm.

Cllr Bob Penrose, cabinet member for learning and culture said: "It is brilliant to see teams from different departments working together to offer a range of support for communities and businesses across the Vale.

"We are actively exploring new ways to develop art and culture, and this event gives us an ideal platform to promote art through various mediums, and I encourage anyone who is interested, to take part in the networking event."

Creative Rural Communities officer Nicola Sumner-Smith said: "We think this is an exciting opportunity to support the development of craft in the Vale whilst highlighting the great talent we have here.

"We hope that craft practitioners from a wide range of disciplines and experience will come along and find the network a valuable resource for their professional and personal development."
