THE following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates’ Court, sitting in Cardiff.

Shem Lewis, aged 31, of Jewel Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to theft while trespassing, after stealing a jacket, DVDs and toys. He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and was ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

Jack Richards, aged 20, of Holton Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to attempting to steal a car, or items within a car. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay £60 compensation, £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £30.

Gerard Clogg, aged 45, of Trinity Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was fined £80 and was ordered to pay £50 compensation, £85 court costs and a victim surcharge of £30.

Daniel Taylor, aged 26, of Port Road West, Barry, pleaded guilty to assault by beating. He was given a community order and was fined £100, as well as being ordered to pay £100 compensation and £85 court costs.

James Elliott, aged 42, of Little Brynhill Lane, Barry, was found guilty of assault by beating. He was fined £300 and was ordered to pay £50 compensation, £300 court costs and a £30 victim surcharge.

Paul Dacey, aged 24, of Cornwall Rise, Barry, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage and two counts of sending obscene, menacing or threatening messages. He was ordered to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work and received a restraining order, as well as being ordered to pay £85 court costs and an £85 victim surcharge.

Jaydene Rosser, aged 33, of Barrians Way, Barry, admitted to breaching her supervision requirements following her release from prison. She was fined £100.

Shane Byard, aged 49, of Church Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to using threatening words or behaviour likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. He was fined £450 and ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £45 victim surcharge.

Michael Dodd, aged 53, of Coldbrook Road East, Barry, pleaded guilty to driving without a licence and driving an untaxed vehicle. He was fined £200 and ordered to pay £85 court costs, in addition to £213.75 in vehicle excise duty back tax.

Owain Turner, aged 30, of Lakin Drive, Barry, pleaded guilty to driving while under the influence of drugs, namely cocaine and cannabis. He was disqualified from driving for 18 months and was fined £400, as well as being ordered to pay a £40 victim surcharge and £85 court costs.
