A BARRY photographer has launched his latest Barry Landscapes calendar ahead of the New Year 2018.

Callum Hamilton, 53, first produced a calendar of local scenes in 2013 and is keeping with the Vale of Glamorgan theme for the forthcoming year and his sixth.

The dad-of-two, of Canon Street, Barry, said: “I’m sticking to the tried and tested formula of landscapes of the coast and parks of Barry and Barry Island. Hopefully showing them off well and perhaps even surprising a few people who may not realise what lovely scenery Barry has to offer.

“I don’t have really hard and fast rules but as a rule of thumb I like to ensure I have the icons, which to my mind means Whitmore Bay, the Knap and Porthkerry viaduct. I also like to throw in an occasional surprise such as an unusual angle or the like.

"This year, for example, the August image is a detail of a sandy beach and some folks have been surprised that it’s The Knap as that is very much thought of as pebbly. As for each month I like it to look appropriate for the season but beyond that I’m just after a good mix.”

He added: “I do particularly like the January image a lot, the striking tree and the feeling of the cold, but in addition there’s the lovely morning light on the furthest trees and the little extra of the wisp of smoke from the cottage chimney."

The calendars have previously been sold as far afield as Germany, Poland, France, The Netherlands and even the USA and Australia.

Current outlets selling the calendar include Cwtch Coffee and Homemade Wales on High Street, the Lake Shop at the Knap, Marco’s cafe, The Beach Hut at Barry Island King Square post office, Travellers in Mind at Barry station, and the café at Porthkerry Park.

It costs £9.99 including first class postage where necessary.
