VALE residents are advised to plan ahead with journeys to and from Cardiff this Saturday, October 28.

A number of public transport changes are in place as a sell-out crowd at the Principality Stadium will see Anthony Joshua defend his heavyweight boxing world titles against Carlos Takam.

Cardiff City FC plays Millwall FC at the city stadium, Leckwith, and the Motorpoint Cardiff will see comedian Micky Flanagan in one of his sell-out shows.

More than 100,000 people will descend on the city to view the events.

Cardiff Bus will have diversions in place from 3pm until close of service.

A full city centre closure is in place.

Westgate Street, Wood Street, Havelock Street, St Mary Street, Castle Street and Duke Street are closed to traffic.

Arriva Trains Wales said there would be a two-line block on the track between Cardiff and Newport, but there are still services and the Severn Tunnel is closed.

A spokesman said: β€œIn terms of our services, the past week with storms Ophelia and Brian have left a significant number of trains needing repair. As such we have seen some trains running with fewer carriages than normal or with some timetable changes. Our fleet team have been working round the clock to get as many trains back operational as possible, but the situation can change rapidly if there are any weather-related issues in the coming days. As such we advise passengers check before they travel and where possible allow more time than usual when coming into Cardiff, particularly given the volume of events going on.”
