AN EIGHTY-YEAR-OLD woman is in a stable condition in hospital after being involved in a road traffic collision between a car and a pedestrian in Jenner Road, Barry, on Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the scene at approximately 2.50pm, with reports circulating online suggesting an elderly lady had been hit by a car.

Witness accounts indicated that members of the public came to her aid to offer assistance, before she was taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

The extent of her injuries are unknown, however South Wales Police have confirmed they are not life-threatening.

Jenner Road was closed in both directions for an extended period, with motorists urged to avoid the area.

South Wales Police have said that the incident is currently under investigation, however no arrests have been made.
