'SCHNAUZER Fest' is set to return to Barry Island this weekend, with close to 200 dogs set to embark on a walk around Whitmore Bay and Jackson's Bay to celebrate the iconic breed.

The annual event will see miniature Schnauzers, standard Schnauzers, giant Schnauzers and ‘honorary’ Schnauzers take to the beach, raising money for dog rescue programmes and promoting responsible dog ownership in local communities.

The event also hopes to promote Barry and the Vale of Glamorgan as an ideal location to enjoy with pets, celebrating the beauty of the natural surroundings that exist along the coastal area.

While the event is UK-wide, the Barry Island walk was one of the most successful in the country last year with over 120 Schnauzers and their owners in attendance.

The walk is set to begin at 10.30am on Sunday, October 15. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at Marco’s Café on the Barry Island Promenade, before walking from there over to Jackson’s Bay. This will be followed by some down time on the beach, before returning to the Promenade.
