FOUR teenagers have been locked up for their part in a vicious attack on a man who asked a house party to turn down the music.

At Swansea Crown Court on Monday, September 18, Joseph Crane, aged 19 of Barry Road, Barry, was sentenced to serve 12 months in a young offenders' institution after pleading guilty to violent disorder and possession of a bladed article.

An 18-year-old male was also sentenced to serve nine months in a young offenders' institution for violent disorder, while two females, aged 16 and 17, were both sentenced to serve six months detention for the same charge. The three, who all pleaded guilty to their charges, cannot be named for legal reasons.

At a previous trial relating to the case, Newport Crown Court heard how Ian Harvey, 58, and Richard Webb, 55, had gone to a house in Kathleen Street last July to ask a party to turn their music down.

Mr Webb told the court that he initially had a drink thrown at him by a female who answered the door, before a group of people attacked, punching and kicking Mr Harvey until he lost consciousness, leaving him with a fractured eye socket.

At the trial, which took place last month, two other individuals were found not guilty of being involved in the attack, while a further two were found to have no case to answer.
