A YOUNGSTER has shown how well-read he is after completing Barry library’s summer reading challenge weeks ahead of schedule.

Seven-year-old Jacob Carey read six library books to complete the challenge and earn his gold medal.

His favourite book was ‘Kragos and Kildor’ from Adam Blade’s beast quest series which he liked because it was "all about monsters".

Jacob’s mum Kelly Carey said he was a good reader for his age.

She said: “We read together every night – Jacob reads to me and I read to him and we love doing different voices.”

Senior Librarian, Melanie Weeks added: “More than 300 children have signed up to the summer reading challenge at Barry Library. With only two weeks to go, all the children need to read and read to finish their six books and come to the library to get their medal.”

The Summer Reading Challenge ends on Saturday, September 9.
