POLICE are investigating a suspicious incident in which a child was approached while he was walking in Trinity Street, Barry.

The incident took place sometime between 5pm to 9pm on Monday, August 21.

Police want to speak to the two men involved ant anyone who may have information.

A South Wales police spokeswoman said: “An 11-year-old boy was approached by a white transit style van with two male occupants - driver and passenger. The passenger, asked the boy to get into the van and said that they knew the boy’s mum.

"The boy ignored them and walked back onto Gadlys Road West towards Alexander Park. The van reversed and followed the boy onto Gadlys Road West but after the boy had walked into Alexander Park, the van drove off by turning back up towards Jenner Road and then left onto Jenner Road and into the direction of Romilly school.”

The driver is described as a white male, aged around 25 years old with blonde, scruffy hair, wearing a white top with 'New York City' across its front.

The passenger is described as being of mixed race, aged around 30 years old, with stubble on his face, wearing a black, flat-peak baseball cap and a black short-sleeve Armani top and of a thin build. He was smoking and had a local accent.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this white van or recognise either of the occupants from the descriptions to contact South Wales Police on 101 quoting ref 1700326627.
