MARIE Curie is appealing for people in Barry to become collection box co-ordinators.

Residents are encouraged to place collection boxes in their community to raise money so that Marie Curie can continue caring for people at the end of their lives.

The charity helps people living with any terminal illness and their families make the most of the time they have together at the Cardiff and Vale Hospice and in their own homes across the county.

Hannah Leckie, local community fundraiser said: "Looking after the collection tins is a really effective way to help support the local Marie Curie Hospice.

"We’ve got tins out in shops and pubs but no one to look after them, so they aren’t raising as much money as they could, which in turn affects the amount of Marie Curie nursing we can provide.

"We’re looking for people who can go around sites in their local area once every every months to replace the full tin with an empty one, then count and bank the money raised.

"We are particularly interested in getting people to help us in Barry.’"
