THE FOLLOWING cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court last week, sitting in Cardiff.
Tristan O'Brien, 26, of Llandinam Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour while drunk. He was fined £150 and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £30. He was also ordered to pay £85 court costs.
Debra Chesire, 52, of Pontalun Close, Barry, pleaded guilty to theft for stealing a set of hair straighteners from a high street store. She was given a conditional discharge for 12 months and ordered to pay compensation equal to the value of the straighteners at £74.99. She was also instructed to pay £85 in costs.
Tee-Jay Caton, 26, of Hardy Close, Barry, pleaded guilty to drink-driving, as well as driving without a valid licence and driving without insurance. He was fined £600 and was ordered to pay £85 in costs, along with a £60 victim surcharge. He was also banned from driving for 20 months.
Chad Clemo, 45, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis and possession of valium with intent to sell. He was fined £120 and ordered to pay a £30 victim surcharge.
Sarah Thomas, 31, of Pyke Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to multiple thefts, failing to surrender to police and handling stolen goods during the operational period of a suspended sentence. She was sentenced to 26 weeks in prison and was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £115.
