THIS week the nostalgia section features a photo taken at the Barry Summer School taken in 1919.
The school was organised annually by the Glamorgan County Council Education Committee.
It was held at the Old County School Barry, now Ysgol Sant Curig.
Barry mayor Cllr Nic Hodges, said: “Started in 1905, it allowed teachers and other interested people from across the county to take part in debates, sports and the arts.
"Particularly popular were painting, handicrafts and metalwork.
"Exams were taken and certificates awarded at the end of the course.
"Over 100 attended every year under the supervision of quality course leaders drawn from universities all over Britain.”
