Family-run supermarket chain Filco has supported Castleland Community Centre in Barry with a £500 donation, to help with the running costs of the centre.

The South-Wales-based group donated the funds through Nisa’s 'Making a Difference Locally' charity, which will support numerous different community groups of all ages who use the centre.

The centre manager, Helen Jones, said: "Castleland Community Association would like to thank Filco for their generosity in presenting us with this £500 cheque.

"This, in addition to the support provided by our dedicated volunteers, will enable the centre to carry on hosting groups for young people, older people living in the Vale, sporting and fitness groups and activity groups.

Filco Supermarkets operate nine stores in the South Wales area and have donated over £38,200 to local causes through Making a Difference Locally to date.
