The following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates Court, sitting in Cardiff.

Eric Rutland, aged 84, of Denbigh Way, Barry, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention. He was fined £130 and his licence endorsed with five points. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.

Jake O'Brien, aged 29, of North Walk, Barry, pleaded guilty to assaulting a police officer and using threatening or abusive words or behaviour and interfering with a motor vehicle. A community order was made with a 100 hours unpaid work requirement in the next 12 months. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.

Cameron Holmes, aged 21, of Phyllis Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon, namely a knuckle duster, in a public place and possessing a bladed article, namely a kitchen knife, in a public place. He was sentenced to a total of 16 weeks imprisonment suspended for 12 months. A curfew requirement with electronic monitoring was made. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £115 surcharge.

Phillip Anthony Dowers, aged 26, of Mallory Close, St Athan, pleaded guilty to harassment. A community order and a restraining order were made. He was fined £50 and was ordered to pay £85 costs and an £85 surcharge.

Jonathan Glyn Evans, aged 42, of Lee Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing tent equipment, attempting to steal a children's electric car and unlawfully damaging a child's electric car during the period of a community order. He was sent to prison for a total of 26 weeks. He was ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Gareth Ross Hudson, aged 35, of Vere Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing a cup of coffee, a £10 note and a charity box. He was sent to prison for 12 weeks and ordered to pay a £115 surcharge

Jade Elizabeth Miller, aged 21, of Dock View Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing a jar of coffee. She was sent to prison for three weeks and ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

Dean Michael Lyons, aged 38, of Duffrig Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour and assault. He was sent to prison for five months and ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.
