THE 10th and final round of the Castle Combe Junior Karting Championship took place on Sunday, featuring Barry racers.

Heading into the final round there was still a possibility of change near the top of the leaderboard, with Matthew Starke of Barry - third in the Championship standings - sitting just one point clear of Bristol's Harry Sadler. Starke failed to make the final, giving Sadler a glimmer of hope to secure third if he won the final race.

It was another Barry driver, Joshua Slatter, who lined up on pole position for the final, with Harry Sadler alongside him on the front row.

Josh Poulain wasted no time passing Billy Cockle, diving up the inside into the top corner and taking second place. However the first lap melee had given Barry-boy Joshua a gap out in front.

Josh Poulain was able to close the gap on Joshua, but Slatter drove faultlessly to take the victory, also claiming the driver of the day award.

Despite not qualifying for the final race, Barry's Starke held on to take third in the overall standings. Whilst Starke and Sadler tied on points, the Barry driver edged out the Bristolian thanks to his three finals victories.

The best novice Championship, for drivers in their first full season with us went right down to the wire, with Pedro Oliveira of Bristol just holding on to take it by one point from Joshua Slatter.

They finished seventh and eight respectively in the Championship.
