MENTER Bro Morgannwg has announced that G?yl Fach y Fro will return once again this year to Barry Island – on Saturday, June 17.

This annual Welsh festival was established by Menter Bro Morgannwg in 2015, to celebrate and raise the profile of the Welsh language in the Vale.

Performing at G?yl Fach y Fro 2017 are Bryn Fôn a’r Band, Candelas, HMS Morris, Eady Crawford, Band Nantgarw and Band Jazz Rhys Taylor.

Hundreds of pupils from the Vale’s Welsh-medium schools will also take to the stage to perform during the day, which is presented by DJs Elan Evans and Bethan Elfyn.

There will be stalls selling local Welsh produce and gifts, a play area, bubble bikes, circus skills, welly walk on the beach and workshops and various activities organised by Welsh language partners in the Vale including Welsh for Adults, Welsh for Kids, Mudiad Meithrin and the Urdd Sport Department.

The event will also include a bar run by local brewery Tomos & Lilford, and food will be served by Grazing Shed, Ffwrnes Pizza and Bay 5.

The event is held thanks for support from the Welsh Government, the Vale of Glamorgan Council, Wales Arts Council and the Big Lottery Fund.

An important element of G?yl Fach y Fro is the fact that entry is free, in this unique, public and popular location on Barry Island, which makes the event completely accessible to all; Welsh speakers, Welsh learners, or those who wish to experience the Welsh language and its culture for the first time.

Visitors will be able to view the programme in full as well as receive the latest news about G?yl Fach y Fro from Menter Bro Morgannwg’s website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages.
