A STEADY stream of residents have been visiting polling stations today with Vale of Glamorgan and Barry Town Council councillor positions up for the vote,

Polling stations are open until 10pm tonight, Thursday May 4.

Residents, turning out at the Pioneer Hall polling station, in Beryl Road said it was important to make views heard to the people who will act on everyone’s behalf.

Mick Fisher, 61, of Barry, said: “If you don’t vote you can’t really complain. So much can happen nationally and locally, so I think people need to do their vote.”

Louena Sheppard, in her 70s and from Barry, said: "The town council and Vale of Glamorgan Council are at the hub of things so you should vote."

A 31-year-old Barry woman, who did not want to be named, said: “I always think it’s worth using your vote. You can’t moan about what’s wrong if you don’t vote”

And a 66-year-old retired resident added: “You should vote all the time. People fought to get the vote and you can’t change things if you don’t – you should vote even if the wrong people get iu.”
