A WOMAN was taken to hospital following an assault in Barry.

Police are investigating the assault on a 41-year-old woman who had been seen socialising with friends in the Park Crescent area on Thursday, April 13.

She was found the following morning in a distressed state in Winston Road and taken to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff.

The police are appealing for a man, who gave her a lift in his car, to come forward.

It is believed the man driving a silver Lexus offered her a lift during the course of the night and drove her possibly to the Cold Knap car park.

He is described as white, aged 50 to 60 years of age, with white hair, a reddish complexion and was wearing orange workmen style trousers at the time.

Detective sergeant Chris Warner from Barry CID said: "We have been trying to piece together the victim’s movements between Thursday, April 13 and Friday, April 14.

"Key to establishing the circumstances of the incident is identifying and speaking to the driver of a silver Lexus who we believe gave the woman in lift sometime during this period.

"We are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward."

The driver of the silver Lexus or anyone who may have seen this car is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting occurrence number 1700141208.
