Extracts from the Penarth Times of April 21, 1967:

An interesting talk on Canada and New York, together with coloured films, was given to members of the Old Folks Welcome Club at last week's meeting.

Three new boutiques opening in Penarth make an impact on the shopping scene for the town's bright young things. This, plus the news of a discotheque at the Marina Club on Friday nights, has been the talking point among the young set in Penarth during the past week.

Members of Sully Constitutional Club organised an outing to Colwinston near Cowbridge, on Tuesday of last week, for dinner at the inn there. During the course of the evening much amusement was caused by a competition for the best mini-skirt for ladies. Everyone had a most enjoyable time.

The Scouts and Cubs had a very good support for their Jumble Sale, which took place at the Church Hall last Saturday afternoon. The boys had been around the village all the week, asking for clothes and "white elephants," and the exceptionally fine day on the Saturday was a great help to them in their efforts of raising more than £20.

Penarth completed their home fixtures with the 'double' over Weston-super-Mare last Saturday. They produced a fine exhibition of attacking rugby and rattled up 28 points without reply.

Weather conditions were perfect, but with the posts having been taken down at the Athletic Ground in readiness for cricket, the match was switched to Cwrt-y-Vil where the ground conditions were dangerous because of ragged earth edges.

Swan Stars were beaten 3-1 by Cardiff Pegasus in the semi-final of the Combination Cup at Llandaff Fields last Saturday. This was revenge for the Cardiff side who had been knocked out of the semi-final of the Divisional Cup by Stars the previous Saturday.

Most competitors managed to land fish in Penarth Sea Angling Club's contest from the Pier and beach last Sunday morning, but catches were small in weight.
