DINAS Powys will meet Llantwit Major in the Worthington East District Cup final at Cardiff Met's Cyncoed ground on Tuesday, May 2.

The semi-finals saw an amazing match at Hailey Park, Llandaff North, as Taffs Well took the lead after 40 seconds against underdogs Llantwit Major, but the latter hit back sensationally and ran in three tries for a 19 - 7 lead, before half-time was reached at 29 - 16.

Taffs Well conceded another try then came back from 16 - 34 down to lead 35 - 34, but Llantwit roared back and were in front again at 44 - 35.

It still had not finished as Taffs Well closed at 44 - 42 but Llantwit then scored a ninth and final try to win the game by 51 - 42.

It was hard to pick anyone out, but the pace of Rory Budina at full back was devastating and fly half Josh Austin and full back Luke Dawes scored superb tries.

In the other semi-final it was a quieter affair on the next pitch as Dinas Powys led Cowbridge by two Ben White penalties at the interval.

White added a third after the break then Dinas, cup winners in 2015, opened up and scored four tries to lead 33 - 0 before Cowbridge grabbed a consolation try and finish at 33 - 7.

Dinas Powys are currently top of Division 2 East Central, while Llantwit Major are third in Division 3 East Central B.

Dinas are probably favourites to regain the cup, but if Llantwit Major produce the same magic as they did in the semi-final, it will a tremendous final to watch.
