SIXTY years of Barry Round Table supporting the community was celebrated at a 1950’s themed dinner dance.

Barry Round Table has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds over the years.

The night highlighted the past and welcomed the future, with newest member Nick Critten, bringing current membership numbers up to nine, when just a few years ago the group comprised of just two people and was on the brink of closure.

Round Table supports the community and provides an opportunity for members to develop new skills and take part in social activities.

Most notably at present, the group is responsible for organising Barry's incredibly popular Santa's Sleigh event each year bringing joy to children all across the area.

Fifty guests, including Barry Town Council mayor Cllr Charlotte Williams, vice president of Round Table Great Britain and Ireland Steven Grew, past members, and family and friends, all attended the night at Barry Town United's clubhouse.

Cllr Williams said Barry Round Table was an essential element to Barry and one that had done "some amazing work in the past year and over the past 60 years".

Steven Grew thanked Barry Round Table for a great night and wished the members all the best for the future.

A raffle in support of Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital charity raised £330.

Prizes were donated by Lee and Andrew Selby, Brawd Men’s Health, Ms. Fit Women, Waitrose, Tesco, Co-op, Umpa Lumpa Sweet Shop, Poundland, Nisa Vere Street, Lloyds Pharmacy, Quaser, ASDA, Whitmore and Jackson, Cherry Orchard and Healing Touch.

Special thanks were offered to Francesca Cakes, JPL Sound and AskFrank for their help getting the night just right.
