Extracts from the Barry & District News of January 20, 1967:

Judging by views expressed at a meeting of the Housing Management Committee on Monday, the race is now on to get as many Council houses as possible completed at Gibbonsdown by March 1968.

The visit of the Small Faces to Barry on February 3 has prompted a competition which is open to all Barry teenagers who are under 18 years. Three attractive prizes, in addition to a possible chance to meet the Small Faces in person, are being offered.

The basketball section turned up well on Tuesday week at the Barry Comprehensive School for the first practice after the school holidays. Although a bit rough to start with owing to the break, the two sides soon settled down to some good form.

The YMCA Barry Ladies' Choir and Junior Girls' Choir have just ended a much appreciated round of concerts given to residents of homes for the aged at Bryneithin, Dinas Powys; The Court, St Fagans; Gardenhurst, Penarth and the Gwalia, Barry. The choirs also visited the Neale-Kent hospital, Barry, on Tuesday, January 10.

A bad weekend for the Barry Town Club - heavy defeat in the Southern League at Dartford, while the Welsh League side went down at home to Port Talbot.

A good crowd gathered at the Sports Centre on Saturday for the "match of the day" between the league leaders, Roving Club and Barry Gladiators. In an excellent match, the occasion proved too much for the Roving Club who lost their unbeaten record in a hard-fought game.

After gaining their first win of the season last Saturday, Terriers were soundly beaten in the second round of the Barry Cup in Saturday, when they lost 10 - 1 to St Athan, a division one team.

The annual Sunday School prize giving day was held last Sunday at Salem Baptist Church. The prizes for the scholars were valuable and instructive books and there was a high percentage of those in the senior and junior departments who attained full attendances and received first-class prizes.
