RECRUITMENT to join the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) this summer has started, with the charity looking for people to help save lives on Welsh beaches.

Applications are now being accepted for beach lifeguards and face-to-face fundraisers, with both roles supporting the RNLI's aim to keep people safe and prevent tragedies around the coast.

Beach lifeguards will receive world class training in search and rescue, lifesaving and casualty care techniques, plus being trained in using the latest lifesaving equipment including rescue boards, rescue tubes and defibrillators.

The RNLI will be operating a lifeguard service in partnership with local councils and land owners in the Vale of Glamorgan.

The RNLI is looking for people with courage, determination and the ability to draw on their training to make effective decisions to help save lives.

Applicants should be strong swimmers who can swim 400 metres with a good level of fitness and be aged 16-years-old and over.

Applications are also open for face-to-face fundraisers which work alongside lifeguards to provide people with important safety advice and raise vital money to help the service continue.

Applicants will need to be a dynamic and positive ambassador for the charity, actively engaging with communities and inspiring support for the RNLI's work to prevent the loss of life on the water.
