A HIGH Street business has devised a plan aimed at encouraging residents to shop on the street.

EarlyVersity, the street’s newest small business on Barry’s High Street, has launched a prize draw which it hopes will encourage customers to visit them and also fellow traders.

The education inspired business, which bills itself as a child enrichment and activity centre, is offering the chance to win a huge chocolate teddy bear, money box, soft Christmas decoration, sweet lollies and candy canes and chocolate coins.

Customers need to bring in a receipt, with contact details on the back, by Saturday, December 24.

The idea was inspired by a visit to Cardiff’s St David’s shopping centre and a scheme in practice in the city.

Business founders Peter Thomas and Kay Rawlinson said they hoped the initiative would help with the Barry & District News’ ‘Your High Street: Use it or Lose It shopping campaign.

The ongoing campaign aims to boost fortunes and the number of visitors buying local goods from independent stores..
