ON THURSDAY, November 17, the Rotary Club of Barry held an International Charity Lunch in the Memorial Hall, Barry, which raised more than £300 for charity.

Speaking during the annual event, rotary club president Robin Pitcher said that the profit would go to support those affected by Hurricane Matthew in Haiti. He thanked everyone who attended for their continued, invaluable support, making such events possible.

Following on from the success of the annual Fireworks Fiesta on November 5, on Barry Island, the club will continue with their busy autumn programme, supporting the Dinas Powys Dickensian Fair in December, providing monthly donations to the Vale Foodbank and holding a Christmas Concert in December for senior citizens.

The Rotary Club of Barry meets weekly in the Glenbrook Inn on Thursdays at 6pm for 6.30pm. New members are always welcome.
