ON FRIDAY, October 14, Bryn Hafren Comprehensive School welcomed Year 6 pupils from all primary schools in Barry for their annual transition day. This day is eagerly anticipated by staff as a chance to meet Year 6 pupils and show them the exciting opportunities available to them at Bryn Hafren.

Girls were allocated to groups for the day and assigned monitors from Year 13 who looked after the girls through the day. Due to the vast array of subjects available the girls were simply not able to sample everything in one day.

Lessons included nail art in one of the beauty salons, producing photograms in our dark room, making mirrors and purses in Design Technology, practical mathematics playing supermarket sweep as well as experiencing ladders and fizz buzz and descriptive writing using Roald Dahl in English.

During break and lunch the girls were able to try out what our canteen has to offer. They were impressed by the variety and standard of food produced by the canteen - their favourite dish being pizza.

Mrs A Davies, deputy head said: "It is always a pleasure hosting transition day. The Year 6 girls have been perfect pupils. We hope they enjoyed their day and look forward to welcoming them into the Bryn Hafren family next year."

Staff are now looking forward to the Bryn Hafren Open Evening on Thursday, October 20. Pupils and parents of Years 5 and 6 are welcome to come to the school between 6pm and 8pm to meet staff, tour the school and see examples of work.

Staff always look forward to this evening as it gives them a chance to meet with prospective pupils and especially enjoy reminiscing with their parents who they may have taught or been fellow pupils with at Bryn Hafren.
