Extracts from the Barry & District News of September 30, 1966:

A bright array of flowers, vegetables, fruit and other produce were displayed in the hall of the Romilly Junior School this week.

The school was celebrating harvest thanksgiving, and all the produce was collected by the children.

A Barry couple who emigrated to Canada in 1962, have been making quite a name for themselves on the bowling greens around their home town of Lachine, Montreal.

The Barry First-Aid week, to be held from Monday, October 17 to Friday, October 21, will be officially opened by the mayor and mayoress of Barry.

The Dinam Ensemble, formerly the Dinam Concert Party, are off to a good start with their autumn season of concerts.

A strong and flourishing church youth club last week joined the ranks of local dramatic societies with their first full production - an Agatha Christie thriller.

Barry Sports Centre completed their first "double" of the season, beating Villa Wanderers 5-1 last week and on Saturday beat them 4-3 at Penarth.

An organisation has been set up which should provide closer sporting links between Barry and its "twin" French town of Fecamp.

At a meeting in the Council Chamber on Monday a Sporting Activities Committee was set up, whose main objective will be to organise a visit by representatives of sports organisations in the town to coincide with the opening of a sports area at Fecamp towards the end of March or early April next year.

It is difficult to give an accurate summary of the 1966 cricket season for Barry Centurions, if the season can be summed up in one word, surely, it should be poor. Not so much poor from the Centurions playing record, which was perfectly reasonable, but poor all round.
