ART Central Gallery will celebrate its tenth anniversary in November with an open exhibition event.

In November 2006, the gallery held its inaugural open exhibition and to celebrate 10 years it will be accepting submissions from artists for the upcoming event.

The celebratory exhibition will be open to the public, and will run between 10am and 4pm on Monday, November 7, with the work remaining on show until Saturday, January 14, 2017.

Art Central Gallery welcomes submissions from artists working with all types of visual and performance art media including works by painters, photographers, craftspeople, designers, film makers, performance artists and others. Artists from the Vale of Glamorgan are particularly encouraged to submit work but this is not essential or exclusive.

To make the event inclusive, Art Central Gallery is aiming to accommodate at least one piece of art from each submission. They are looking for original art works that show the artist’s unique style and interests.

The submission fee is £10 for up to three images. There will be a panel which will help curate the exhibition from the submissions received. Access to the exhibition will be free.

The gallery, as part of the Town Hall complex, is on Barry’s King Square, and will be celebrating alongside Barry County Library, who will also be marking this celebration. The celebrations also mark the 110th anniversary of the Town Hall itself.

Councillor Lis Burnett, deputy leader and cabinet member for regeneration and education, said: “We have been fortunate enough to enjoy exhibitions at Art Central Gallery for nearly 10 years now, and this coming exhibition will celebrate its longstanding dedication to arts and culture by asking for unique submissions. I look forward to seeing these on my visit to the gallery.”

Art Central will accept entries up until noon on Monday, October 3.
