THE Rotary Club of Barry has inducted two new members, husband and wife David and Lynne Jakeway, early in September.

Speaking on behalf of the Rotary Club of Barry, president Paul Halstead said he was delighted to welcome a husband and wife team as new members of the club.

The new members have joined during a busy time for the club. During the summer the club attended the Vale Show providing free blood pressure checks as well as supporting the Alzheimers Society. The Vale Foodbank continues to receive monthly donations and members assisted the foodbank to move into their new premises in the middle of September.

At the end of September members will compete with members of Cardiff Bay Rotary Club in the first round of the District Quiz. In October the club will receive a visit from the district governor and plans are will in hand for the annual Firework Fiesta to be held on Barry Island ‘come rain or shine’ on November 5 which will be followed by an International Charity Lunch later that month.

Rotary has 1.2million members (men and women) worldwide who form a global network of business, professional and community volunteers.

The Rotary Club of Barry meets weekly in the Glenbrook on Thursdays at 6pm for 6.30pm. If you would like further information you can speak to club secretary Phil Hunt on 01446 720000 or look online at ribi.org
