Also achieving top marks were Jason Grice, with 12 A* or A grades including A* in English, Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Biology, Physics, Drama and History; and Daniel Brown, with nine A* or A grades including A* in Mathematics, Further Mathematics and Religious Education.

Josh Evans, 16, said: “My results are amazing, it’s a relief. All the hard work paid off in the end. I’m chuffed. I’m going to party at my house and celebrate with the family. We’re going out for food.”

Daniel Brown, 16, said: “I’m really happy and relieved. I was surprised. It was a lot of hard work to study for them but in the end it was worth it. I’m going to go on to the sixth form.”

Head teacher, Gerard McNamara said: “Students, staff and governors have all worked tirelessly this year to continue the huge improvements we made last year. A big factor in our success continues to be the constant support of parents, who always insist on high standards for our boys and regular homework being completed to a high standard.

“With this fantastic news we look forward to the year ahead and further improvements to celebrate. The vast majority of our students have now secured the grades they need to progress to our sixth form or other choices, which ensures we can all move forward together as a school community.

“My heartfelt congratulations to all.”
