BRYN Hafren Comprehensive School have celebrated their fantastic results as pupils collected their GCSE results today.

Head of drama, Alexandra Downey broke-off from her honeymoon in Greece to call up the school and celebrate the department’s 100 per cent success rate for its star pupils who recorded A* to C grades.

Pupils excelled in Spanish and, for a second consecutive year, the Science department celebrated its best ever results.

The Mathematics department gained top marks with its all-time best results.

Drama GCSE pupil Amy Bedford, 16, of Barry, said: “I feel good. Studying was really hard.”

Fellow Drama pupil, Leah Jenkins, 16, added: “I’m so happy. I can’t explain what it means.”

Head of Year 8 and Drama teacher, Jonathan Coombes celebrated the department’s success.

“We are absolutely ecstatic,” he added.

Top performing pupil, Camille Danielsen shared her happiness with other GCSE pupils.

She said: “I feel good and it was good to see everyone who worked so hard this year.”

Carys Slack, 16, also gained a huge collection of A* and A grades, having not missed a day of school in five years.

Speaking of her 100 per cent secondary school attendance record, she said: “I feel happy and I just got lucky. I’ve always fallen ill in the holidays.”

Head teacher Tyrone Davies said: “Whilst the school wishes to say a huge well done to all of the girls who are celebrating their results today, a special mention does need to be made to those who have achieved exceptional grades. Camille Danielsen achieved eight A*s, one A, and a Distinction in additional Mathematics. Carys Slack achieved six A*s, three As and a Distinction in additional Mathematics. Ruby Redrup achieved three A*s and six As, while Sian Morris and Jaheen Ahmed between them achieved five A*s, seven As and SIX Bs, with both girls achieving Distinctions in additional Mathematics. These results reflect the hard work and dedication shown by these pupils throughout their GCSEs and are thoroughly deserved. All at Bryn Hafren hope to see as many girls as possible joining the Barry sixth form and wish all our girls a happy and successful future.”
