The following cases were heard at Cardiff and Vale Magistrates' Court sitting at Cardiff:

Shae Anthony Ellis, aged 24, of Heol Leubren, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing £1700 from a betting shop. A community order was made requiring 200 hours of unpaid work within the next 12 months. He was ordered to pay £1700 compensation, £85 costs and a £60 surcharge.

Louise Reynolds, aged 40, of Cawley Place, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing detergent and a separate count of stealing detergent and cheese. A community order was made and she was ordered to pay £75.69 compensation. She was also ordered to pay £85 costs.

Thomas Daniel Scaddan, aged 36, of Hunter Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to drink driving and possessing 0.5g of the class A drug, cocaine. He was fined a total of £430 and disqualified from driving for two years. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a £35 surcharge.

Kenneth Jeffrey Crane, aged 33, of Albert Street, Barry, pleaded guilty to two counts of assault and one count of sending an offensive message. He was sent to prison for a total of six months. He was ordered to pay a £115 surcharge.

James Brett Tamlin, aged 35, of Holton Road, Barry, pleaded guilty to stealing an iPhone, failing to surrender to custody and stealing a £6.99 bottle of wine. A community order was made with a curfew requirement and electronic monitoring. He was ordered to pay a total of £56.99 compensation, £100 costs and an £85 surcharge.
