EVENT organisers in the Vale have just two weeks left to apply for funding from the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

The council is offering financial support to event organisers who want to hold unique events, along with the opportunity to host them on the Eastern Promenade, Barry Island.

Previously, the council has supported events such as the Barry Island Fireworks Fiesta, Isle of Fire, Beyond the Border Storytelling Festival, Penarth Summer Festival and the Vale of Glamorgan Show.

The local authority now wants to broaden the offer for 2016 while also helping independent events to establish themselves and grow.

An events grant scheme is available and event organisers can apply for funding of up to £1,000.

Organisers who wish to apply for funding for events taking place before the end of March 2017 should contact the Vale council’s events team via email to sejones@valeofglamorgan.gov.uk

Organisers will have to demonstrate that their event meets a number of criteria in order to qualify for funding.

The closing date for all applications is noon on Wednesday, August 31.
