BARRY Comprehensive School A-level pupils were in jubilant mood today as all students secured the grades needed for their chosen universities.

Head of sixth form Rob Bourton said the results had left him feeling “over the moon”.

“They have exceeded our expectations and everyone has got a place at university," he said. "We are chuffed at that.”

Head teacher Gerard McNamara added: “Teachers and governors are delighted with the A-level results. The overall A-level and equivalent qualification pass rate of 98 per cent reflects the dedication and hard work of the students. Every student who chose to continue their studies has secured a place, with 95 per cent going to their first choice of university. We wish all of our students every success in the future.”

Particular individual achievements included Matthew Ireland who achieved three A* and an A - as well as an extra-curricular AS-level in further mathematics.

He will be studying physics at Cardiff University.
