AN APPEAL has been made to trace the owner of a three-legged cat found in Barry.

RSPCA Cymru is trying to track down the owner of the grey-and-white cat - believed to be aged around eight years old.

She was found in an alley near Broad Street, Barry, on Saturday, July 23, but cannot be reunited with her owners as she was not microchipped.

She didn’t have a collar but is likely to have been owned as she has had her hind left leg amputated.

The cat was taken to a local independent vet who gave her a check-up. She had scarring on her face, neck and on one paw and is thought to have a fungal infection.

She has now been taken to RSPCA Merthyr Tydfil Clinic where she is being cared for and treated.

RSPCA chief inspector Elaine Spence said: “Unfortunately as she was not microchipped we’re unable to trace her owner.

“She may very well have an owner who is desperately looking for her, so we hope we can find out who it is. Posters have been put up in the area where she was found.”

The RSPCA is appealing for people to have their pets correctly microchipped to give them the best chance of being identified and returned to you if they become lost or are stolen.

Anyone who may have information about this cat and knows who her owner is should contact the RSPCA inspectorate appeal line on 0300 123 8018.

Calls are treated in confidence.
