A BARRY primary school pupil looks set to take the photographic world by storm after he created stunning images on his first attempt.

Colcot primary pupil Josh Watts, aged 10, visited the Royal International Air Tattoo, the world's largest military airshow, at Fairford, Gloucestershire, on July 9.

He took photographs of various aircraft – in flight – including the Red Arrows.

His auntie, Tina Haydon, a Barry librarian and keen photographer, said she was amazed at the pictures he produced.

“I took a spare DSLR with a 300mm lens attached thinking my niece might like to use it," she said. "However, it was my nephew, Josh Watts, who is just 10 years old who ended up using it. I gave him a very quick lesson on how to focus and press the shutter button and how to zoom in and out. I didn't expect him to be able to get any decent shots, but was amazed when I came to edit them for him the next day.

"He managed to capture some really great images. Not easy for a first timer, especially when you consider how fast some of those aircraft are moving.”

“His class in Colcot primary school also had a showing of the images this week, which he was really chuffed about," she added. "He thoroughly enjoyed taking these pictures and is very keen to go out and take some more.”
