SULLY U3A recently held its fifth AGM. Chairman, Jean Bispham, said membership had continued to grow and is now nearing 400.

She thanked the committee, group leaders and everyone who contributed to its success. The executive committee was elected and after business concluded 130 members were entertained to a tea party to mark the Queen's 90th birthday.

The party had a 1920s theme with members dressed as flappers, tea served on three tier cake stands and a toast with Prosecco to the Queen.

Names were put into a hat for one lady to be queen for the day and Pat Wright was the lucky lady who received a bouquet of flowers and commemorative book. Entertainment was provided by Laura and Joan, two brunettes who perform as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes.

They sang a selection of songs from the Queen's nine decades including favourites by the Andrews Sisters, Doris Day and the Everly Brothers. Members joined in the songs and some even found room to dance.

Jean thanked everyone who had made the afternoon so enjoyable.

The next meeting will be at 2pm on Thursday, July 14, at The Old School, Sully, when Don Knight will speak on Japanese Gardens and the art of Bonsai.

New members are welcome at these meetings.
