THE Barry Community Water Activity Centre (BCWAC) is urging residents to bag their tickets for its first anniversary fundraiser and patron’s scheme launch.

There are less than ten tickets remaining.

Atlantic ocean rower and Vale-based firefighter John Haskell will be at the dinner celebrating the official opening at the Masonic Hall, on Broad Street in Barry, on Saturday.

Spokesman Pail Haley said: “It’s a great chance to be part of creating this historic heritage project to give opportunities to the young people of Barry.”

The event will launch the Patron’s Scheme and aims to encourage people to support BCWAC’s plans to create an iconic state-of-the-art building on The Mole at Barry Waterfront.

A four-course dinner, with wine, will also feature Atlantic Dash rower Mr Haskell - who navigated the ocean in 45 days raising thousands of pounds for three charities.

The black tie/cocktail dress event begins at 7.15pm for a 7.45pm sit-down.

Raffle and auction prizes are welcome.

Tickets, costing £30 per person, are available from Mr Haley on 07973 911317 or via paulhayl ey959@btinternet.com.
